The leaders who faced hard time to access the podium include Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Gatundu South MP Moss Kuria.

The leaders had to struggle with the disorganized crowd until they managed to ascend to the dais. The incident comes after Ruto’s allies made dramatic U-Turn on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Murkomen and his team decided that they were going to be part of the meetings to popularize the report. Murkomen had said that he was aware of a plan to heckle him during the meeting in Mombasa. He, however, said he will be part of the meeting regardless of the threats.

“I have been threatened that if I attend the Mombasa BBI meeting, I shall be humiliated by being denied a seat, not being allowed to talk, or even if I am allowed to talk, I shall be heckled,” he said.

Deputy President William Ruto has also said that he will be attending the rallies for the report. He, however, did not attend the Mombasa meeting after he pledged to support the same.
