A section of Nakuru’s Bahati constituency residents have asked the county commissioner Mohamed Birik to interdict an assistant chief who they have accused of duping them in a land scandal.
Speaking to our reporter, the residents accused the chief of pocketing their money with false promise of helping them get a land surveyor to examine a plot of land they had bought in the area.
The more than 10 residents alleged that the chief pocketed their Sh150,000 and attempts to get their money have been futile.
Through their spokesperson Samuel Mburu, the residents stated that attempts to have the matter addressed has hit a snag since some officials are not willing to attend to their claims.
“We want the county commissioner, Mr Birik, to come in and help address the matter,” said Mr Mburu.
He said they have evidence of giving the said chief money and that they are ready and willing to testify in court.
The residents want disciplinary measures taken against the chief, failure to which they threatened to march to his office and throw him out.
Efforts to reach out to the said chief for comments on the matter were futile as his phone failed to go through.
