President Uhuru Kenyatta has graced the closing ceremony of the 9th African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Summit.

The summit whose theme was "A Transformed ACP: Committed to Multilateralism” was also opened by the Kenyan head of state on 9 December, 2019 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

President Uhuru's arrival to preside over the closing ceremony was announced by State House on its social media platforms.

The so-called Nairobi Nguvu Pamoja Declaration, which means strong together in English, was set to be presented in its draft form for consideration

"President Uhuru Kenyatta is at KICC for the official closing ceremony of the 9th African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Summit. The draft Nairobi Nguvu ya Pamoja declaration will be presented for consideration #ACPSummit2019 | #TheACPWeWant @WilliamsRuto @PressAC, " the State House tweet read.

The overarching agenda of the ACP is how to achieve sustainable growth and integration into the global economy.

Rwandan president, Barbados prime minister Mia Mottley and Jamaican prime minister  Andrew Holness also graced the summit.

President Uhuru accepted the gavel of leadership from the outgoing president, the Hon. Davis Madava Steven, Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea when the summit was opened on the first day. 

Hosting the summit underscores Kenya's growing profile on the global stage.
