A 70-year-old man hanged himself on Thursday in Kyambuli village in Mwala sub-county in Machakos county.
The shocking incident was confirmed by Ikalaasa location chief Esther Ndunge who said that the body of the man was discovered dangling from a Mango tree near his home in the afternoon hours.
She observed that the reason that led to the man taking his life is still a mystery and according to the family he was always a happy man.
"I received a report that the 70-year-old man had hanged himself in Kyambuli village. He was a jovial man who had no enmity with anyone. No one has any idea of why he decided to end his life," said Ndunge.
She urged residents to talk to their old kins and know if they are troubled to avoid such cases stating that many could be having issues but keeping quiet.
"Talk to your parents they could be having problems and need someone to talk to in order to avert such cases.
The body was picked and moved to Machakos level five hospital for preservation as investigations into the incident began.
