Egerton University health sciences students attached at the Milimani campus in Nakuru town will this weekend travel to Bahati to hold a free medical camp.
The chairman of the Health Sciences Students Association Mohammed Salim told this writer at the campus on Wednesday that the health camp was both a charity and a practical experience activity for the more than seventy students who will take part.
He said the medical camp event was being sponsored by the university management and the Lions Club of Nakuru to provide a community outreach charity initiative in health.
“This is both an academic and community service activity. It will provide our members with exposure and experience in their training apart from providing service to the community,” he added.
The exercise, the chairman said, will be presided over by academic members of staff at the Faculty of Health Sciences and officials from the Lions Club of Nakuru. It will take place at Bahati Girls School starting from Friday October 17 to Sunday 19.
The official said that diagnosis for common ailments treatment and referral services would be done during the exercise that will be opened and graced by the local Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Kimani among other leaders.
