Speaking on Wednesday at Katangi area in Yatta Sub-County, Machakos County where he had met locals from Ikombe and Katangi wards, Maliti stated that the construction works will begin after the rainy season.

"We will bring lorries and graders and ensure the road is done but we can't do all that until the rains stop," said Maliti.

The deputy governor said they are aware that a few roads in the area are impassable and urged the residents to remain calm noting that the county government is committed to providing quality services to locals.

"We agreed to start with areas that have bad roads so that the residents can at least taste the fruits of devolution," he said.

Residents had been lamenting over the poor state of the road that had been rendered impassable due to the ongoing heavy rains. Several vehicles got stuck on Wednesday morning due to the poor state of the road.

Maliti distributed blankets, foodstuffs, fertiliser, and other items to the residents.

Ikombe Member of County Assembly Jackline Nziva who was present at the function noted that if the road is repaired, residents will be able to commute easily and avoid using longer routes to reach their destinations.
