Kisii County Governor James Ongwae on Tuesday officiated the groundbreaking and site handing-over ceremony for the construction of a new wing at Nduru level 4 hospital in South Mugirango constituency.
The project entails the construction of a three storey-theatre block with both private ward and general wards wing of 16 and 84-bed capacity respectively.
The county boss also confirmed that his government is committed to set up a new hospital in the next 9 months.
"The new facility will have a 100-bed capacity facility with provisions for a dental unit, 3 consultation rooms, pharmacy, X-ray wing, minor theatre, 3 laboratories, Physiotherapy rooms among other spaces," he stated.
The governor assured that the new facility will have a borehole drilled and water reticulation, septic tank/bio-digester, external civil work i.e. parking spaces and emergency wing.
"My government is committed to actualizing Universal Health Care for all in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big 4 agenda," he added.
He appealed to local elected leaders to shun divisive politics and focus on pushing for development for the benefit of the electorates.
Ongwae challenged politicians eyeing for political seats in 2022 to engage in politics based on development.
