Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and teacher Peter Tabichi are among dozens of Kenyans honoured at State House on Thursday.
President Uhuru Kenyatta honoured a number of people for exemplary service to the country moments after attending Jamhuri Day celebrations.
But Mutyambai, who took over as IG this year and Tabichi, the world's best teacher, were among the notable people awarded various medals.
"Teacher Peter Mokaya Tabichi and Inspector General Hillary Nzioki Mutyambai amongst those honoured by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Jamhuri Day," tweeted CS Joe Mucheru.
Tabichi, 36, was hosted by US President Donald Trump this year and was among those who addressed US Congress afterwards.
When he won the award, Uhuru donated Sh20 million to Keriko Secondary School in Nakuru in his honour.
Mutyambai took over from Joseph Boinett who retired from Vigilance House this year after four years in charge.
Earlier at Nyayo Stadium, Uhuru scolded legislators representing graft suspects in court, terming the move as a conflict of interest.
"State and public officers are not about the law. One cannot serve as a legislator at the national or county level while at the same time practicing law whether or not for gain," he said.
Some of the awards given by the head of state include a Silver medal, Golden Heart and Burning Spears ostensibly for high achievers.
