Travellers from Mombasa had every reason to smile after Modern Coast bus company fully resumed operations.

Several buses left Mombasa terminus to different destinations on Friday evening after the National Transport And Safety Authority (NTSA) lifted the suspension on the bus company.

Immediately after the company announced that they had resumed operations, desperate travellers flocked their Mombasa offices for tickets.

The company also enabled their online booking system, and as per Saturday 11 am, only a few VIP spaces were still vacant.

"Modern Coast Express Limited.This would have made for a long statement, here is a simple one MODERN COAST IS BACK starting tonight!," they posted on Facebook on Friday.

Modern Coast has also promised that they will be ensuring their customers' safety is prioritised.

They appreciated NTSA for and the police after successful discussions with them.

"We wish to thank the leadership of National Transport and Safety Authority-Kenya and National Police Service all through the discussions, we shall continue to ensure the safety of all our passengers and other road users," they added,

NTSA had suspended 88 buses from the company after two of them got involved in an accident along Mombasa-Nairobi Road that led to the death of eight people.
