Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has hit out at National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale over the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
This is after Duale criticised Mt Kenya leaders after they threatened to shoot down the report, should it propose a parliamentary system of governance.
The leaders last week said they will oppose the yet to be made public report arguing that Mt Kenya region is underrepresented in the National Assembly, by having few MPs when the region was highly populated.
Duale accused the politicians of rejecting the parliamentary system and backing presidential system, so they can continue dominating the country's leadership using their 'tyranny of numbers'.
On Wednesday, Mwaura told off the Garissa Township MP accusing him of intimidating Mt Kenya leaders so they can change their position on BBI report.
He said Duale was advocating for 'tyranny of Somalis' who he claimed were already being favoured by the current constitutional set-up.
"Duale shouldn’t intimidate Mt Kenya on universal principle of ‘one man one vote ‘. So called tyranny of numbers can’t be replaced by tyranny of Somalis who have more than their fair share of constituencies, devolved funds and curiously number of citizenships. Is he a dual citizen?" the Senator posed.
In a tweet on Sunday, Duale said the presidential system was unfair to minority communities which he said continues to be dominated by the big five tribes.
"To my colleagues from Mt. Kenya, Kenya belongs to all of us; since independence, Central Kenya has dominated the leadership, and we should spread both political and economic dominance to all the communities to create an all-inclusive and stable nation for future generations," Duale tweeted.
"I have been consistent since the 2010 constitutional change; Kenya best governance system should be a parliamentary system, where all communities will have an opportunity to lead the country not a preserve for the 5 big tribes forming a winning coalition using their tyranny of numbers," the Majority Leader said.
