Dennis Itumbi on Monday put the Star on the spot over what he alleged to be fake news.
Itumbi who doubles up as the Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President was commenting on a story published by The Star titled; Ruto troops retreat to Kajiado to plan for BBI.
According to the story, the group was against a referendum as a result of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Itumbi, however, labeled the story as fake, citing that it was wrong to imply that all of Ruto's supporters were against the referendum.
"Dear @TheStarKenya Kajiado? I doubt. For the 26th time, it is FAKE NEWS to claim that anyone who supports DP @WilliamsRuto opposes the Referendum. Let it come as part of the 2022 election, if there is anything that needs it in the BBI report," Itumbi tweeted.
Itumbi's statement came hours after Deputy President William Ruto called out Daily Nation over a story that he termed as fake news.
Ruto, in a tweet on Monday hit out at the publication over its lead story titled; BBI blow for Ruto as Speaker rules out Parliament.
