However, before buying those matching outfits and picking those co-coordinating names, it's important to know what your odds are.

Therefore if you're dreaming of doubling the newborn cuteness but wondering what are your chances are? Read on to find out;

Height

Research suggests that women who are taller have a higher probability of giving birth to twins compared to their short counterparts.

The culprit to this theory is something called insulin-like growth factor (IGF), which is a protein that's released by the liver that has been undoubtedly linked to twinning and being tall.

So if you're 5 feet 3 inches and above, your probability of having two little passengers boarding your mother-ship is quite high.

Family history

Family history increases your chances of giving birth to twins, but only from your mother's side.

Therefore, even if your spouse's father's side is full of dynamic duos, your likelihood of conceiving double bundle of joys are null.

You age

The older you get, the higher your chances of giving birth to twins.

According to research, women who are older have higher levels of a hormone called Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)  , which prompts a higher probability of having twins.

These women are also more probable to produce multiple eggs in a cycle compared to younger women, hence higher chances of resulting to twin pregnancy.
