Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has said that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and its proposals might not be the solution to the nation's current troubles.
In a tweet Sunday, the politician claimed that the nation needs prayers more if it is to overcome its woes and move forward, only two days before the release of the BBI report.
He also called upon Kenyans to shun tribalism and politics of political parties, stressing on the need for leaders to be judged based on their delivery records and not parties they belong to.
"We should shun party politics and tribalism if we want to take this country forward. Let's not to be driven by party politics or tribal politics but let's concentrate on the manifesto and developmental records. Kenya needs prayers more than the publicized BBI," the MP tweeted.
This comes only a day after he said that he will only support the BBI, which is being fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, if it seeks to benefit his constituents.
"I will read, understand and interpret the BBI report on behalf of my great people of Kimilili because that is part of my role. I will only support the report if it will be of benefit to the common mwanachi," Barasa tweeted on Saturday.
But Uhuru and Raila have insisted that the BBI is the solution to the nation's leadership issues, claiming that it will not only unify the nation but also end the culture of post-election wrangles.
Raila's allies have hinted that the BBI will also recommend better methods of fighting corruption.
