Governor Mutua is said to be keen to dethrone Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as Ukambani kingpin as 2022 politics start taking shape.

On Saturday, Mutua attended a fundraiser at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga primary school when he joined Mr Odinga.

On his way, Mutua lauded transformation in Kisumu city under the leadership of Governor Anyang' Nyongo.

"Arriving at the beautiful city of Kisumu with one Kenya’s top brains and courageous leaders Senator @orengo_james. The revamping of Kisumu under the focused leadership of my colleague Prof @AnyangNyongo is slowly making Kisumu the Geneva of AFRICA," he tweeted.

"I am heading to Bondo, Siaya County, for a development function at the Jaramogi Odinga Primary School with the beacon of our Kenyan Democracy, PM Rt. @RailaOdinga," he added.

Besides attending functions organised by Raila's party, Mutua has also played host to the Orange leadership in Ukambani.

Mutua, Governors Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana have been under Kalonzo's neck in recent days. ODM SG Edwin Sifuna recently hinted a new alliance for the party.

"In Kibra by-election, we (ODM) were taking stock of our friends, and we identified them one by one. We do not want people who are friends by the day and enemies by night,” Sifuna said at Tulia Grounds where he had accompanied Governor Mutua to a thanksgiving ceremony for Mutonguni Ward MCA Musee Mati who won the seat on Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket during a recent by-election.
