Garissa Governor Ali Korane has joined other leaders in congratulating Ahmed Mohamed Madobe who won Jubaland presidential elections in Somalia.
On Thursday, Korane hailed Jubbaland votes who demonstrated their democratic right by voting in Madobe who was seeking re-election.
"On behalf of the people of Garissa County, I extend my warmest congratulations to Ahmed Mohamed Madobe on his re-election as President of Jubbaland State, Somalia. I thank the people of Jubbaland for the peaceful election. I wish him success as he discharges a fresh mandate," tweeted Korane.
Despite Madobe being sworn in on Friday, his closest rival has also taken the oath of office claiming to have won. This might also cause political instability in Jubbaland.
Several leaders including Ijara Member of Parliament Sophia Abdi Noor have congratulated Madobe and the entire voters for exercising their democratic right.
"On behalf of people of Ijara, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to his excellency Mohammed Islam Alias Madobe on his re-election as president of Jubaland state Somalia I thank the people of Jubaland for holding a peaceful election I wish his excellency Mohammed Islam Alias Madobe success as he discharges his fresh mandate Insha Allah, "she said.
Madobe has since extended an olive branch to neighbouring countries to join him in development projects and in the fight against terrorism.
