A man from Nairobi County committed suicide after being diagnosed with cancer.
The 37-year-old learnt about his condition a few days ago when he got admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
According to one of his friends, Josphat Musyoka, the cancer news shocked and drained all his hope.
"He was diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer and asked to return to the hospital after two weeks," Musyoka said.
Agnes Mueni, one of the neighbours to the deceased said the man had sent his wife to buy him yoghurt from the shop when he locked the house and hanged himself.
When his wife returned from the shop with the yoghurt, he found the door locked from inside. He called her husband to open but it was in vain.
She notified the neighbours who broke the door and found him dangling from the roof of the house.
The deceased worked at a scrap metal yard in Nairobi's Industrial Area.
Mukuru-Kaiyaba slum chairman Jacob Abraham, where the man was living, asked residents to seek alternative ways to solve their probelms other than taking their own lives.
