Former Mandera Senator Billow Kerrow has become the latest notable politician to pour cold water on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), terming it a political plot.
In an interview with NTV on Tuesday night, the former lawmaker said that the BBI and its recently released report of suggestions look like a plot aimed at realizing political aspirations in 2022.
Kerrow said that in his view, the initiative being pushed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga seeks not to help Kenyans but a few political players.
"The BBI report seems like an agenda made for the purpose of winning the election in 2022. For me that seems to be the endgame," he said.
However, this comes as a contradiction to what the two have been saying about the document, which they have termed the avenue to positions changes in the country.
Uhuru and Raila have also repeatedly indicated that their union is for the benefit of the country and has absolutely nothing to do with politics.
Kerrow further termed the BBI and its recommendations useless, observing that Kenyan already has enough laws, and doesn't need more.
According to him, what remains is the arrival of s person who can preside over the implantation of the already existing constitutional dictates.
"What we need is not laws, it's not BBI, it's not referendums. We need someone who will implement the constitution," he added.
