The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) has released a new list of pay increment for both Primary and Secondary School teachers.

School Principals will take home Sh16, 503 more after the increment.

The increment comes after the commission agreed to implement the third phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Under the new development, the government is expected to spend Sh13 billion on the increment.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has, however, filed an application seeking to stop the new pay rise arguing that the appraisal by Knut will make it difficult to execute the third phase of the CBA 2019/2020.

TSC boss, Nancy Macharia argues that implementation of the new scheme will not be possible.

Knut has faulted TSC for attempting to use underhand tactics to avoid implementation of the agreement.

School principals in job group M are expected to get a salary increment of between Sh16,010 and Sh16,503. Chief principals in job group Q and R have an increment of between Sh4,719 and Sh10,613.

However, primary teachers II on job group G will not get any pay rise following the release of the list.

Primary teacher, as well as secondary teacher III on job group H and J, will also not receive any increment.

Job group M Principals are expecting to get14,028 more while there is an increment of between Sh2,631 and Sh11,152 for Deputy principals III.

The union has also outlined that an increment of Sh2,475 and Sh8,526 will be given to senior headteachers, deputy principal IV and senior masters ranked on Job Group N.

Senior teacher I and Secondary teacher I on job Group L will bag Sh1,811 and Sh2,015.
