The Kenya Defense Forces has released a new programme for recruitment, barely a week after the exercise was postponed following various concerns.
National Assembly Defense committee under Katoo Ole Metito poked holes on the recruitment policy, forcing the KDF team to go to the drawing board.
Among issues which MPs questioned included stationing the recruitment exercise at the county level instead of constituencies or Sub Counties.
"The decision was reached after taking into account the valuable sentiments by members of the committee," KDF Deputy Director of Public Communication Brigadier Bogita Ongeri had said.
The exercise was scheduled for October 28th across the country. However, on Saturday, Ministry of Defense released new recruitment dates.
According to the new programme, the recruitment of General Duty Recruits will start on November 27th to December 16th this year.
Those interested in joining the force as Cadets, Specialist Officers and Tradesmen should make formal applications to the Defense Headquarters before 27th November.
"General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialists Officers, and Tradesmen/women will apply to the Defence Headquarters," KDF said.
"General Duty Recruits and Defence Forces Constables will be recruited at all sub counties by KDF teams at dates to be specified in subsequent announcements. Those candidates who had applied earlier MUST reapply afresh."
Application forms can be accessed in KDF website. Successful General Service Officers and Specialist Officers will be notified through a national circulation between December 16th and 24th.
KDF has over 25,000 active servicemen and women. Currently, over 4,000 are in Somalia for peace keeping mission under AMISOM. Kenya first deployed troops to Somalia in 2011.
