Mr Moi, the son of retired President Daniel Moi, has already announced his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, arguing that he has qualities to steer the country on development path.

For months now, the KANU leader has been at loggerheads with Deputy President William Ruto, who he accuses of chest thumping as Uhuru's heir apparent.

But Mr Kamket on Tuesday said Kenyans have an obligation to vote for Moi, arguing that the families of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have been cleared 'debt'.

"We are waiting for this man (Gideon Moi) to say what he wants. From Pokot, we have already decided. And you all know, Kenyans have shown us the trend. That we must first reward dynasties. Raila Odinga's father Jaramogi was VP, we also made Raila Prime Minister.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta is also the son of first President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. We have no debt for Jaramogi and Kenyatta. We are now remaining with Gideon. Ruto should wait for his son to try. He should thank God for this far," he claimed.

Raila's father Jaramogi served as Kenya's first Vice President for two years. President Uhuru Kenyatta's father Jomo Kenyatta ruled the country for 15 years.

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed the dynasty narrative, arguing that Kenyans should choose someone based on the ability and not the background.

“You know, I don’t know if I will be told that I am speaking politics, but I am not, I promise. I have no such intention, but you know when you hear people out there, you know, they talk, ‘Oh, this person, dynasty this, oh dynasty this’…it is not about that," he said.

He continued: "Leadership is not about where you were born. It is not about where you came from. It is not about the colour of your skin. It is not about your tribe. It is just about a desire to serve — a desire to do good, a desire to make a difference in the lives of people, and anybody can do that."
