Speaking in Siaya on Saturday during the burial ceremony of the mother of former Gem MP Joe Odonde, the Siaya senator said that Raila was eyeing bigger things.

He contended that the former prime minister was keen on continental recognition.

"What we are looking for is bigger than Ruto, is bigger than any individual  leader is looking for. So he should not worry about Raila. Raila is looking for bigger things; to be noticed in the continent, " he said

The outspoken Siaya legislator's intervention comes amid speculation that Raila and Ruto will slug it out in the 2022 general elections for the presidency.

Ruto and Raila have continued to trade strong words in what political pundits see as a bid of flexing muscles ahead of the general elections.

While Ruto has come out clearly about his presidential ambitions, the ODM supremo has been rather coy, choosing to focus the national attention on his handshake with his erstwhile political adversary President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Uhuru has, by and large, remained neutral in the war of words between Raila and Ruto.
