Renowned television show host and socio-political commentator Tony Gachoka has hit out at Kenyans for what he described as blaming the government for everything.
In a blistering tweet on Tuesday, Gachoka appeared to suggest that Kenyans did not have a clear sense of their roles as citizens.
"In Kenya we blame the government for everything:-road accidents, matatu overloading, school fires, ferry accident, Knut union wars, greedy MPs, corruption, terror attacks, fights in churches, Cohen murder, courts not jailing suspects, drug epidemic, what’s the role of a citizen?"he tweeted.
Gachoka's strongly-worded tweet comes in the wake of an incident at the Likoni Ferry crossing, that saw a car with four occupants slide off the ramp of a ferry into the sea.
Kenyans on social media have been lashing out at the government and the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) over what they describe as negligence on the part of the authorities.
Much of the anger and blame has been triggered by the fact that there was no immediate response to the incident with questions being asked on the state of preparedness for maritime incidents.
More than 24 hours after the tragic incident, the bodies of the occupants of the ill-fated car have not yet been recovered.
