. Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has thrown his weight behind calls to amend the Constitution to include additional executive positions.
The proposal which enjoys support from the opposition, advocates for expansion of the executive arm of government to accommodate more persons.
Speaking on Saturday, the outspoken leader said there is dire need for an expanded government if the nation is to address the issue of recurrent post-election wrangles.
He said the current scenario where only the president and the deputy slots are on offer has made most people feel outside government due to lack of representation.
"Mimi naona iko in order. Hii mambo ya watu wawili ndio wanachukua uongozi inaleta utata. Hatutaki kila baada ya kupiga kura ni problem. ( I think its in order. The situation where only two people are accommodated in power has been causing disputes. We don't want recurrent problems after each election)," he said on Saturday.
He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.
The group, especially forces allied to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, have stressed on the need for the introduction of the prime ministerial post and that of two deputies.
Aladwa also suggested that judging by the population of the country, there is need for a larger representation at the top.
"Hizo position ziwekwe katika katiba kwa sababu hii nchi ni kubwa na tunataka kuwe na usawa kule juu. (Let the positions be included in the constitution. We are having a big country and we want fairness at the top)," he added.
