The murder of John Mwangi, a 52-years-old businessman from Kitengela has remained unsolved since 28 September, 2019, in a story covered by Sunday Standard.

John and other two people were found in two separate cars shot by unknown people in Karen. 

Unfortunately, John and a Tanzanian national, Richard William, died from the shooting while a third person survived with serious injuries. 

Police officers from Karen Police Station came to the scene, took the survivor to Kenyatta National Hospital, the deceased to the City Mortuary while their cars were towed to the police station. 

Various reports emerged from the police. One officer noted that they might have been shot for fighting for criminal money. 

The family of John Mwangi hurriedly cremated his body at Kariokor crematorium 30 September, 2019. 

However, the people responsible for their murder are still at large as the police haven't unravel the case. 

In addition, John's family has been receiving threats from people who are believed to be behind his murder. 

Speaking to Standard, a family members, who asked not to be mentioned, noted that they receive short text messages with threats. 

The relative said that family hasn't reported to the police as they fear for their lives. The source also admitted that John had been doing dirty businesses that involved selling stolen vehicles outside the country.

“We do not know if it is the police who did it or whether it is people who had grudges with him,” said the relative as quoted by Standard

Even as the family of John hopes the police will uncover their murders, it remains unclear whether it is the police who killed him or his fellow criminals. 

John, was a wanted man due to his involvement in criminal activities.
