Kiambu County assembly majority leader Simon Komu has been dismissed from the position following a vote by TNA MCAs on Tuesday evening.
The MCAs from TNA party, which has the majority members in the county assembly, voted Komu out with 51 votes against 34 who were supporting his stay.
Gitothua MCA Peter Chege will now be the majority leader in the county assembly. Chege has promised to bring unity among different warring factions in the county.
“I want to thank God and also thank all the TNA MCAs for believing and having confidence in me that I will be able to bring unity among TNA MCAs,” Chege said.
“I’m going to bring unity among all Kiambu MCAs and ensure that the county assembly work together with the executive for the good of Kiambu people,” he added.
Chege comes in as Kiambu County continues to be ravaged by frequent squabbles between the county assembly and the executive. The county governor William Kabogo is also under immense pressure from the whole leadership of Kiambu County to appear before the Senate to answer financial queries.
