Okoth died last week aged 41 years, after a long battle with cancer. Speaking to Tony Gachoka on KTN’s Point Blank Show on Wednesday, the Rarieda lawmaker said Okoth had the ability of juggling between serving the lowest in the slums and engaging the highest intellectual discourse.

“There are certain things Ken had which were unique. One was the ability to serve the lowest in the slums and at the same time to engage in the highest intellectual discourse,” he said.

“The second thing he had was the ability to maintain unity within the party, and the party line but also navigate and get people to focus on development in Kibra. And I think those abilities made him stand out,” added the first-time-MP.

At the time of his death, Okoth was serving his second time as Kibra MP after being elected in 2013, and reelected in 2017 on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.

He was one of standout MPs in terms of his debating ability in the National Assembly, and numerous development projects he initiated in his constituency especially in the education sector.
