Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has taken a swipe at Western Kenya leaders, accusing them of continuing to leave in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's shadow.
Cherargei, a critic of Odinga, wondered why ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula attended the BBI forum in Bukhungu, which was spearheaded by Odinga.
Raila on Saturday led hundreds of Western Kenya residents in a meeting to drum up support for Building Bridges Initiative report.
“After talks, we decided to grab the opportunity to find a lasting solution to the problems we have had since 1992 through the handshake,” said Raila.
“I agreed with President Kenyatta to come up with a solution for posterity because 2022 will just be an event that will come and go.”
However, Cherargei now says Saturday's meeting effectively made Odinga the Luhya kingpin, given that it is his allies who organised it.
"Unfortunately Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are attending the coronation of Raila Odinga as the Luhya kingpin in their own backyard, as 2022 line up is being drawn...," he said.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and COTU leader Francis Atwoli were the key organisers of the meeting which brought together thousands of residents.
For the last three polls, Odinga has been getting enormous support from the larger Western Kenya region.
