Former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has asked the government to swing into action after the death toll in Talent School tragedy rose to eight.

In an interview with NTV's Am Live show on Tuesday, Midiwo said that he is yet to understand why the government has not arrested anyone over the saga. 

He asked the officers tasked with the probe to act immediately.

“The government must act, 24 hours after the tragedy and nobody has been arrested, the police should move in and arrest these people. There is no excuse for building with chicken wire,” he said.

Speaking at the Kenyatta National Hospital after visiting the injured pupils, Deputy President William Ruto said that he is saddened by the death of the students. DP Ruto said that the government will probe the matter.

“I am glad doctors are doing their best to ensure the young ones are back in good health soon,” said Ruto on Monday afternoon.

The family of the victims have asked the government to act swiftly on the issue as the police embark on a probe into the matter.
