The African Union High Commissioner for Infrastructure wished the governor quick recovery who had been hospitalised for a week after he was diagnosed with Malaria.

Raila said that Joho was recuperating after he kept off from the public glare following the illness.

"Visited the Governor of Mombasa Hassan Joho at his Vipingo residence to wish him quick recovery following his recent hospitalization after a bout of Malaria. It was good seeing him in good spirits," he posted.

The former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday last week visited the second time governor at the hospital. The county boss took to social media and expressed his gratitude after Obasanjo paid him the visit.  The former head of state was in the country to attend a conference for African leaders.

"It was heartwarming to receive former Nigerian President H.E Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo who visited me in hospital this morning. Gen. Obasanjo is here to attend the Future Cities of Africa Conference which kicks off this afternoon at @VipingoRidge," he wrote.

Joho was not present as the allies of the opposition leader camped in Kibra to ensure their candidate Imran Okoth bags the seat. He has promised to hold a rally in the constituency once he gets well.
