The supremacy contest between Jubilee Party and ODM is not over, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has said.
The Garissa Township MP said the Raila Odinga-led party should not look down upon the ruling outfit following the outcome of Kibra parliamentary by-election.
ODM candidate Imran Okoth was declared the MP-elect after he garnered 24,636 votes ahead of Jubilee's McDonald Mariga who received 11,230 votes in the mini-poll held on Thursday.
Duale said it was a great success for Jubilee to record 26 per cent of the valid votes cast in a constituency perceived as Raila's bedroom.
"There's no doubt Jubilee is the party of the moment. To secure over 11000 votes in the most unlikely political BEDROOM is no mean achievement. We may not have scored but that was a classic on target goal. We are coming," he tweeted on Friday.
In his congratulatory message to Imran, Duale reminded ODM that it recently lost to Jubilee in the Wajir West by-election held in April where Ahmed Kolosh emerged the winner.
"Congratulations to Kibra MP Elect Imran Okoth for winning the Kibra seat and pongezi Mariga, our Jubilee candidate for a good feat. The ODM party lost to Jubilee Party in Wajir West. Asiyekubali kushindwa si MSHINDANI. (However who does not concede defeat is not a winner)," the Majority Leader added.
