Abagusii community should position themselves and support a stronger presidential candidate to increase their chances of being in government, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has said.
While dismissing ability by the community to have a presidential candidate, Osoro on Sunday said Raila Odinga is determined to be president despite failing in previous attempts.
According to home, Mr Odinga us keen to fulfill the wishes of his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, who he claimed was desperate to be president.
The first term MP, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, said at some point, Jaramogi Oginga even wished to have led the country for hours.
"As a community, we should not think of going for presidency due to our small number. Let's support a stronger presidential candidate and hope for good returns," he said.
"You can't expect Raila to support you yet even his father wanted to be president for minutes. I am seeing Ruto winning the polls," added Mr Osoro.
Jaramogi, who was Kenya's first Vice President, died in 1994 having finished fourth in 1992 presidential polls. He was however leader of opposition after his Ford Kenya party finished second.
There have been calls from a number of politicians in Gusii to have Dr Fred Matiang'i running for president, but the interior minister is yet to declare interest.
