Garissa Women representative Anab Subow Gure has urged both the county and national governments to come up with intervention measures to assist the pastoralists’ communities in Garissa County.
The situation in the Northern Region has left many with lack of food and water following the persistent dry spell in the region.
Gure asked both the national and county governments together with Non-Governmental Organizations to intervene to save the lives of residents suffering due to drought.
“I passionately appeal to the governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations to give a helping hand to those people who were affected by the ravaging drought in the Northern Region,” posted Gure on Facebook.
The Woman Rep sent two water bowsers to thousands of herders in Dagega to ensure that the suffering brought about by the current situation is minimized.
She further said that the water bowsers will also be sent to the worst affected locations in the county.
“After an outcry from the locals concerning the drought that has ravaged parts of Garissa County, I have sent two water bowsers to Dagega which hosts thousands of herders as part of measures to counter the effects of drought. My office will also send a number of Water Bowsers to the other parts of the county,” she added.
