The gang demanded that she opens the main door to the house and hand over money to them, claiming she had huge sums with her.

The Gatuanyaga ward MCA said she refused to open the door due to fear for her safety and informed them she had no cash with her.

The gang is said to have started setting fire on four cars parked within the compound; a Prado, two double cab pickups and a Toyota saloon vehicle after she failed to adhere to their command.

The ward representative said she screamed for help as the robbers continued with their act and the residents came for rescue as they thought their leader’s house was on fire only to meet with a gang at the gate running for their lives.

“They rescued me as they thought my house was on fire and that’s when the gang ran away as well,” Wamaitha explained.

Police officers arrived at the MCA’s homestead a few minutes after the incident and though they did not get the culprits, they have vowed to probe and apprehend them soon.

No one was hurt in the incident.
