TNA chairman Kiambu County and gospel musician Muigai Njoroge has lamented over the increase of alcohol uptake in the Mount Kenya region.
Speaking in kiambu on Tuesday after a youth mentorship programme, Njoroge expressed his fears that the region may retrogress if the same situation continues.
"If we are not careful with our young people, we may never capture the presidency again. Our population is decreasing by the day. This is a very worrying trend and stringent measures need to be taken to save our people," said Njoroge.
He further said that the region has a serious problem that needs not only to be addressed by the members of the clergy, but all stake holders as well as politicians to fully contribute to the success of the initiative.
“Everyday in the media we get women from the region demonstrating over their husbands becoming impotent and neglecting their conjugal rights. This is the main contributor of these illicit brews. The kindergarten centers of Kiambu, Muranga and Nyeri have also recorded the least number of children attending showing that the rate of giving birth of the mothers of this area has reduced.” said Njoroge.
Njoroge has been composing songs that are against alcoholism and has been in the forefront in the fight against alcoholism and drug abuse.
