Renowned Kamba benga singer Ken Wa Maria is contemplating running for Machakos senatorial seat in 2022.
On Thursday, he sought to know from his fans if they will support his bid.
"Senator Machakos County come 2022" Am (sic) ready my friends. How many are going to support me please," he captioned his post on Facebook.
Wa maria, whose real name is Kennedy Wambua Ngunze has an interest in Ukambani politics.
In 2017, the "Ndalili sya Maundu" (signs of times) hitmaker vied for the Matuu Ward MCA seat on a Wiper party ticket but lost.
He is the founder of Yatta Boys Band which evolved to Yatta orchestra with songs like "Ndanu ka Mutongoi", "Kavaluku na Nzou" "Kivelenge" "Avocado" "Fundamentals" among other big Kamba tunes.
He sang along other benga artists like Ben Mbatha alias Kativui before he (Kativui) formed Kyaume Boys Band.
Given his rich background in music, Wa Maria could be inspired by the need to do more for Machakos constituents as a leader.
He could also be following in the steps of Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar who made his way to Parliament from the entertainment industry.
