Ford Kenya candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election Butichi Khamisi has pledged to make discrimination in the constituency a thing of the past if elected.
Butichi who was accompanied by Ford Kenya politicians led by party leader Moses Wetangula was speaking during a campaign rally at Bombolulu in Kibra constituency on Sunday.
In his speech, the Kibra parliamentary hopeful asserted that he would further the legacy of the late Ken Okoth which entailed the elimination of ethnicity and favouritism.
The politician observed that discrimination was a cross-cutting problem that needed to be addressed by all-and-sundry.
He further promised to protect youth and children front tribal discrimination in the constituency.
“This is an issue we must be willing to talk about because it affects us all. I will ensure children and the youth in Kibra do not face discrimination because of the tribes or communities they belong to," Butichi said as quoted by Daily Nation.
Furthermore, he pledged to exercise fairness in the issuance of development and educational bursary funds to the constituents who rightfully 'deserved' the same.
"Bursaries and jobs will be given to those who deserve them and without discrimination," he argued.
Khamisi will be facing off with Benard Imran Okoth (ODM), Eliud Owalo (ANC), McDonald Mariga (Jubilee) among other candidates in a by-election that is slated for November 7th 2019.
The seat fell vacant after the death of the sitting MP Ken Okoth.
