Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has revealed that majority of the legislators from the Mt Kenya region are lenient towards the Deputy President (DP) William Ruto-allied Tangatanga faction of the ruling Jubilee Party.
According to Kuria, more than a half of his colleagues from the region are on the DP's side, while only a small portion of them are allied to the rival Kieleweke side, which is backing President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.
Speaking on KTN's Point Blank show on Wednesday night, he said that sixty percent of the lawmakers are in Tangatanga and only ten can be associated with Kieleweke.
"The bulk of MPs from Mt Kenya, like 60 percent are with Tangatanga. Another 10 percent are with Kieleweke, maximum," he said.
The MP who has since declared interest in the presidency in the 2022 polls, said he stands no chance in the region, adding that the MPs are aligning themselves with the groups in exchange for some goodies.
"The best I can do is the 30 percent lying in between the Kieleweke and Tangatanga, unless we assume that some stroke of wisdom is going to strike or the hand of God is going to touch the Kielewekes and the Tangatangas because they are very deeply in greed in there," he added.
Unlike Tangatanga, Kieleweke is comprised of forces loyal to president Uhuru Kenyatta and his new partner, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
