Former Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale has disputed the results of the 2019 population census, especially in Kakamega County.
The legislator has now called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to cancel the results terming them ''fake results.''
''We've 47.6m Kenyans up from 37.0m in 2009. A national growth rate of 2.8% pa. Kakamega County is reportedly 1.87m up from 1.663m in 2009. A growth rate of 1.2%, way below the national average! Luhyaland has the highest growth rate in Kenya. Mr President, cancel this fake census,'' he noted.
He also noted that his home area, Ikolomani had recorded a drop in numbers from the census done in 2009, which could not be possible.
''Mr President, Sir, the population of Ikolomani is reportedly now 111,743 down from the 143,153 in 2009. There was no epidemic in Ikolomani! This fake census results are meant to deny some regions & communities the national shareable revenue. Stop it!'' said Khalwale.
Khalwale is among various leaders who have disputed the census released which were released on Monday.
Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi also disputed the results noting that he could take legal action against the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) for releasing fake results in his county.
Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki also declared his county population results as low and vowed to petition to review them.
