Speaking on Sunday during a prime time interview aired on NTV, the former prime minister rubbished claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta sends DP Ruto with donations.

He claimed that the country's second in command makes the donations from his own pocket and claims that he has been sent with a donation from the head of state.

"I know for a fact that the president does not produce any money. Ruto produces the money and then says that he has been sent by the president, but I know that that is not true" the ODM leader said. (9:16-9:28)

The deputy president has been the target of attacks over his huge donations in churches and Harambees.

His critics contend that the source of the money is corruption, wondering how he can be able to donate millions of shillings every week.

In his defence, the country's second in command has challenged those with evidence that he is corrupt to take him to court.

He has long held that the claims of corruption made against him are part of a wider political witch hunt.
