Embattled Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has said the plan to kick him out of the union was stage orchestrated by some powerful persons in government who feel he is a threat to their leadership in different ways.

Sossion, who spoke on Saturday night, said he is not fighting President Uhuru Kenyatta as he seeks to leave behind a legacy when he completes his second and final term in power.

He also said that some forces within the government pushed for his removal from with the aim of hoodwinking teachers to stop fighting for rightfully belongs to them. 

He reiterated that it is unfortunate that someone of his nature can be removed from office. 

Sossion exit departure from office comes three months after he started engaging in endless wrangles with other officials from the union.

His attempts to remain in office proved futile after he was finally removed from power. 

In a candid interview with the Sunday Nation, Mr Sossion said that his stand as far as the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) is among the reasons he was ousted from office.

He also said that his push for salary increment is another reason why he was sent packing. He noted that he was very vocal on matters of salary increment, adding some people in government were not happy with his stand on the same. 

“I cannot fight the President as I do not have the means or the interest. In any event, I am the only one in this country who can tell the President without fear of repercussions when and where things are going wrong. Apparently, many people do not like to tell the President the truth,” said Mr Sossion, as Daily Nation.
