The county boss said only 100 bars out of the total 322 bars in Nyamira have valid business licenses.

Nakoru said the 222 bars will be closed down by Monday next week because the owners have failed to adhere to the set alcoholic rules in the county.

“A crackdown will be launched next week to close down all the 222 bars operating without valid licenses.

"Police are advised to ensure bars without licenses are closed down and owners arrested to be arraigned in court before the end of next week,” he said.

He warned bar owners against selling alcohol to school going children.

“Students are on holiday and should not be allowed to bars to drink illicit brews. No student parties will be allowed to take place in bars," he said.

The commissioner urged county officials in charge of issuing licenses to traders not to engage in corruption when issuing the business licenses.
