Renowned city lawyer and socio-political commentator Nelson Havi has reacted to Deputy President Dr William Ruto's invitation to join the battle for governing Jubilee party's presidential nomination.
In a post on Twitter moments after the deputy president's invitation, Nelson Havi accepted the challenge to slug it out with the DP in the battle to be Jubilee's flag bearer in the 2022 presidential elections.
"Right away your Excellency. Tumenyane kwa debe la nominations," Nelson Havi tweeted.
DP Ruto had earlier in the day encouraged the lawyer to apply for the party's membership online so as to be eligible to contest for the party's nomination ticket for the presidential race.
The country's second in command has expressed his intentions of running for the top seat.
He said that he would not seek to be given a direct nomination but would be willing to fight it out with prospective aspirants.
DP Ruto remains the strongest contender for the governing party's ticket.
There are reports that an agreement was entered that President Uhuru, who is serving his second and final term, would throw his weight behind his deputy.
A faction within the Jubilee party wants DP Ruto to exit the political stage alongside President Uhuru in 2022.
