Residents of Mwamokuria village in Bomachabe, Bogitaa sub-location, Kisii County were left in a rude shock after a 25-year-old man committed suicide on Monday evening.
Lawrence Ondieki locked himself in his house where he hanged himself using a rope.
Riana location chief Edward Moenda confirmed the incident saying the cause of Ondieki's decision to hang self is yet to be known.
"Ondieki never quarrelled with his family members. He returned home from Nyamira market, locked himself inside his house and hanged self," said the chief as reported by Egesa Fm.
According to the chief, Ondieki has been operating as a bodaboda rider since he dropped out of school in form 2, three years ago.
He said the deceased body was discovered by a neighbour who went to check on him in his house.
"Ondieki's family members were not at home when he committed suicide. A neighbour who went to check on him found his body hanging from the roof of the house before he raised alarm," noted the chief.
The administrator wondered why Ondieki could terminate his life prematurely and appealed to local youths not to take suicide as the last option when faced with challenges in life.
He said police officers from Riana police station moved the body to Nyangena hospital morgue.
