Speaking in Kiambu County on Wednesday, a visibly angry Uhuru said the leaders should not assume he is a fool because he is silent, and warned them against 'lecturing' Kenyans on the direction the report should take.

Reacting to the sentiments, Wainaina accused Uhuru of using BBI in an attempt to extend his term in office.

In a tweet on Thursday, he asked the President, who is serving his second and final term, to complete his term and head to the retirement.

"No, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. You Can’t Change the Constitution while still in office using BBI report. This is outright attempt to perpetuate your grip of political power either directly or through proxy. You are angry because Kenyans have seen and exposed your intent. Finish, Go!" said Wainaina, who is the Executive Director of the International Centre for Policy and Conflict.

Uhuru, who appeared to direct his anger to politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto who are insisting that the BBI report should only be implemented through Parliament, asked them to join other Kenyans in determining what's best for the country, instead of engaging in 'meaningless' rallies.

“There comes a point where we say enough is enough and we are tired! Before we released the report, they were all over for a month lecturing us about things. Now the report is out and they have taken another direction. These are people who do not know where they are headed,” the President said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
