Residents of Ngetei area of Githunguri constituency within Kiambu County woke up to a shock when they noticed that their village had been raided and some of their cattle stolen.
The villagers teamed up to finding the bandits and managed to ambush them slaughtering three cattle allegedly believed to be from the same village a matter which was confirmed by one of the residents who was able to identify her livestock.
The irate villagers lynched one of them while two others managed to escape where one of them was not luck only to drown in Ruiru dam after the villagers conspired and cornered hi leaving no route to escape.
Confirming the incident Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that one if the bandits who was lynched is believed to have been resident of Dagoretti. He asked the residents not to take justice in their hands but involve the policed in the fight against crime.
“I am calling upon the residents not to take justice on your hands lets join together and help to curb insecurity in this area. Those criminals could uncover other criminals perpetrating crime in the sub county,” Thuranira said.
Thuranira revealed that one of the bandits is still at large but the police are searching for him.
“We have leads to get the one who managed to run away we are sure we will find him. I am warning those who think of carrying out criminal activities in this sub county we are going to get them,” Thuranira added.
