Miriam Kariuki, the patron of the association said that their intention is to educate women on the dangers associated with gender inequalities.

Speaking at Kamirithu Shopping Centre during the launch of the drive, Kariuki said that their work is to get domestic solutions facing women from Kamirithu Location.

“We want to enlighten the women on gender inequalities, how to change gender stereotypes and attitudes that allow violence and discrimination among the women,” she said.

She said the association mission is to fight against gender inequalities, address various forms of discrimination and abuse.

“We want to offer a listening ear to victims of gender –based violence by counselling them to accept the ordeals that befell them and providing solutions,” said Kariuki.

Kariuki said that her association has lawyers who are willing to offer free legal advice.

“We are living in society that is impatient and violence is the order of the day. We want to interact with the victims who are abused by their alcoholic spouses and offer guidance,” she said.

She also urged those women who have domestic issues to come to her association to be helped as they have ‘a calling’ to serve the afflicted.

Kariuki said that the association strongly opposes the cultural practices of FGM and they will be alert during the December holidays.
