Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives based in Vihiga have arrested two suspects believed to have been involved in a robbery that led to the loss of life of one of the guards of a supermarket.
According to the DCI, a robbery that went down on Tuesday morning left one guard, Benson Achega Musands, 48 years old dead, while Jamas Induli Oluku survived with serious injuries.
In a tweet on Tuesday evening, DCI noted that it arrested two suspects after launching a manhunt for the group of people involved in the robbery.
''FOLLOWING the early morning attack on two night guards in a Robbery at Imara Supermarket in Chavakali-Vihiga County where one was Murdered & the other Seriously Injured, Two suspects have been arrested & placed in custody. While armed with Machetes & other crude weapons,'' said the DCI.
During the robbery, goods of unknown value were stolen from the supermarket.
The detectives noted that a Subaru Legacy, which they suspect was used in the robbery had been confiscated, as investigations into the matter continues.
More arrests are expected to be made as other members of the gang are being sought after.
Kenyan guards have on various occasion asked the government to allow them to be armed with guns in vain.
The guards wants to protect themselves from such robberies by use of guns when necessary to scare off any robbers who attempt to approach them.
