Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has spoken a day after he was publicly disparaged in Nyamira County by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.
Matiang'i refuted claims earlier made by Cheruiyot that he attended a meeting convened by Deputy President William Ruto.
However, in a tweet on Monday, the legislator maintained that CS Matiang'i attended a meeting that had been called by the DP.
"Ita Kenya's politics. Truth is only what the person I support says. I reiterate that he was there. Let him deny all he can, " his tweet read.
Cheruiyot said that he received a call from DP Ruto some time back to answer questions as to why the Interior CS was being publicly fought by politicians.
He claimed to have told the DP that he was not behind the uproar and even went ahead to convince Jubilee MPs to storm out of parliament so as to save Matiang'i.
A video of Matiang'i lashing out at the legislator went viral on Sunday with Cheruiyot being castigated for allegedly lying to mourners at the funeral of billionaire businessman, Stephen Omogeni.
The CS denied that he had ever attended a meeting called by DP Ruto to discuss an uproar by politicians against him.
Dr Matiang'i has been in the firing line from Ruto's allies accusing him of misusing his powers by allegedly ordering the harassment of tanga tanga allied politicians.
