Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has claimed that he was locked out of a forum venue during the concluded United Nations General Assembly in the United States.
The senator who had accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta said that he was mistreated on three occasions in New York City, over allegations of being a security threat.
He on Saturday argued that the organisers, profiling him based on his skin, considered him a security threat, claiming that another man similar to him wanted to sneak in a weapon.
The vocal lawmaker said that the same happened again after the first instance, which was only resolved after the organisers apologised to him and the Kenyan envoy to the US.
"They were claiming that someone like me had a screwdriver and could harm people in there (Walikuwa wanasema eti kuna kama mimi eti ako na screwdriver eti anaweza harm watu kule ndani)," he said on Saturday.
The vocal leader made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, where he added that he will be seeking an official apology from the United Nations over the same.
According to Mwaura, he was solely being discriminated against for having a skin disability but added that the same will not scare him from returning to the United States in the future.
"They must give us a formal apology. I don't fear Americans and I shall go hack there (Lazima watupatie formal apology, mimi siwaogopi wamarekani na nitarudi huko)," he added.
