Kisii Governor James Ongwae has declared the Nyanza region's full support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendments push.
He made the remarks on Thursday, a day to the first BBI regional forum to be held at the Kisii Sports Club grounds, where the recently released BBI report will be discussed.
He said that as Nyanza leaders, they will also enhance awareness among Kenyans to enable them to contribute to the report before its implementation.
"As leaders from the Lake Region Bloc we reaffirm our support for the report and we shall mobilize our citizenry to participate in enriching the report,” he said.
He spoke after a meeting with fellow Nyanza governors to discuss the forum. He further called upon Kenyans to read and understand the BBI report.
He noted that their full understanding will be needed during the forum, where the document will be discussed.
"We are appealing to our people and stakeholders to read the report, understand its recommendations for active and fruitful engagements during a multi-sectoral stakeholders’ forum slated for January 10, 2020, in Kisii,” he added.
All the remaining governors; John Nyagarama (Nyamira), Anyang Nyongo (Kisumu), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya), Okoth Obado (Migori) and Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay) have also declared their support for the BBI and are expected to attend.
